Meet the Artist: Roy Willis
Roy Willis is an artist whose inspiration flows from the world around and within him. He describes his artistic endeavor as a spiritual pursuit, viewing artists as tools of the Creator, blessed with a unique role in the creative process. Working from a studio in his home in Saint Augustine, Florida, Roy is a night owl, often finding his muse in the quiet hours.
Largely self-taught, Roy has explored various mediums including oil, acrylic, and watercolor, each teaching him to be both a better teacher and student of art. His goal is to convey honesty and truth wrapped in beauty through his work, which varies in emotion and message depending on the subject. Roy dreams of one day creating paintings that museums will acquire, but finds joy in knowing his work enhances personal and professional spaces alike. Influenced by a wide range of painters from Audubon to Zorn, he continuously evolves, drawing parallels between his art and the life discovery journey of Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
