Biography

Born and raised in St. Augustine, Florida, Wendy Delfosse creates ocean-inspired paintings shaped by place and memory. After returning home in 2019, she reconnected with the waterways and coastlines that defined her childhood. That daily proximity to Anastasia Island drives her studio practice. Her abstract, beach-toned compositions echo shifting tides, shoreline textures, and the quiet rhythms of Northeast Florida.

Wendy began exploring fluid art in 2020 and immediately embraced its therapeutic benefits. The process rewards presence: pouring, tilting, and guiding color until movement proposes a form. She lets pigment and medium interact, refining edges while preserving chance. The result is a body of work that feels both grounded and free—seascapes and wave studies that suggest horizon, foam, and depth without literal depiction.

Her palette carries the coast: luminous blues, sun-washed neutrals, and soft transitions that mirror salt air and morning light. In some works, gentle cells and veils evoke sea glass or wet sand. In others, currents of paint surge across the surface, recalling wave breaks along the coquina shores near Anastasia Island. Alongside these pieces, Wendy develops purely abstract works that distill motion and mood into color, flow, and balance.

Wendy’s practice aligns closely with Art Box Gallery & Studios’ curatorial vision—authentic voices, accessible contemporary art, and strong ties to place. As a St. Augustine artist working in fluid acrylics, she invites emerging collectors to connect with coastal narratives through approachable, modern abstraction. Her paintings complement the gallery’s mission to support local artists and foster community dialogue around art’s power to soothe, center, and inspire.
