Alain Hentschel, having dedicated forty-two years to art education, most recently as the Dean of Florida School of the Arts, now devotes his time fully to his own art creation. Upon retirement, he was honored with the title of Dean Emeritus. Alain’s journey in art began with his master’s degree from California State University Long Beach in 1976, followed by a rich twenty-four years living and learning in Paris, soaking up the city's vast art history.
Alain’s artistic style is predominantly non-objective, using a process that begins with thin acrylic washes and builds to thicker, more textured layers. This method allows him to explore dense imagery and unexpected forms, finding joy in the surprises each piece presents. His work is influenced by a range of notable artists including Claude Monet, Helen Frankenthaler, and Willem De Kooning. Alain’s career highlights include selling a significant painting at a salon in the Grand Palais in Paris and maintaining an active presence in the art world since his graduation.
