Biography

Dae Murphy is a lifelong Florida local with a deep passion for nature. As a fantasy surrealist acrylic painter, she creates imaginative works that reflect the mystery, beauty, and tension found within the natural world.

Her paintings focus on the juxtaposition of beauty, danger, and innocence within the Florida landscape. Through this lens, nature becomes both enchanting and unpredictable. Dae’s work invites viewers to look closer at the places they think they know.

Fantasy and surrealism allow Dae to move beyond literal scenes. Her art opens a space where familiar landscapes can feel dreamlike, symbolic, and emotionally charged. This approach gives her paintings a sense of wonder while still staying connected to the land around her.

Outside the studio, Dae enjoys spending time with her cat, Mu, and her blue tongue skink, Sausage. She also enjoys going on walks and playing video games. These personal details reflect a creative life shaped by curiosity, observation, and imagination.

At Art Box Gallery & Studios, Dae’s work brings a fresh fantasy surrealist voice to the St. Augustine art community. Her paintings connect with viewers who are drawn to nature, storytelling, and the strange beauty hidden in everyday places.
